Functions performed by SENASA

Argentina is a dealing country in meat processing and industialization, which results in meat being apreciated not only for its taste and quality but also for its sanitary condition and food safety.

The national agrifood health and quality service (SENASA) is part of the secretary of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and food (SAGPyA).

SENASA is in charge of controlling and certifying health and quality conditions of products and by-products of animal and plant origin, preventing, eradicating and controling animal diseases, including those transmissible to human beings, and plant plagues affecting agricultural production.

Permanent Sanitary Controls
SENASA carries out systematic and permanent sanitary controls in all authorised slaughterhouses and processing plants, implementing in a progressive manner GMP, SSOP and HACCP systems in order to optimise the health and quality confitions of manufactured products.
It also controls all types of residues and contaminants, and the register and labelling of foodstuffs.

It should be noted that, in accordance with the increasing demand for health and quality standars by international markets, SENASA permanently redesigns its policies, implementing and developing quality assurance systems apropiate to the knew scenarios.

All this means that the natural quality of the meats and diary products and their modern industrial processing are complemented by the total guarantee that the standars demanded by international markets are complied with.
